1978 Dodge Power Wagon (plow truck)

TFL’s Take: A plow truck is not something you see everyday come up for auction, especially in this condition. The 318CI V8 with Carter 2-barrel carburetor was good for 140-hp when new and put the power in Power Wagon for its time. As befitting a 1/2-ton work truck it rides on leaf springs both rear AND front. For a hard-working plow truck it gets the job done and looks great doing it.

• 9-3/4 rear axle
• Myers power angle plow
• Leaf spring suspension is on all 4 corners

• 15-inch wagon wheel red painted wheels
• New BF Goodrich KO2 AT tires
• Reupholstered red vinyl bench seat
• New black carpeting
• Boman AM/FM/CB radio replaced the original
• Aux switches for for control of the plow and lighting.
• Power disc front brakes, power rear drum brakes

KNOWN FLAWS:

• Chipped tailgate
• Cracks and warping on the passenger-side dash
• Earlier repairs now have any invasive rust remediated with solid metal welded-in (see photo)
• Surface rust on the engine and in the engine bay, but it remains mechanically sound.
• Extensive Bondo use on bed and sides hidden by most recent paint job.
• Odometer shows 2,727, but can’t confirm original mileage.
